JOSEPH MIREKU WRITES

Joseph Mireku
JOSEPH MIREKU writes

Colleague students, when I began   this journey of running for the office of SRC president, all I had was a message and an outstretched hand inviting the good students of our university to COME ALONG so we move KNUST forward.

A few months down the line and no one but the Good Lord could have said how far we would come. The naysayers and the pundits were quick to dismiss us and say we were not to be taken seriously. Along the line, when the students heard our message, the same pundits predicted that we were just a rising force that would fall face flat before election arrives. Other comments about our looks were even thrown at us. Today, we stand on the brink of history that come Thursday  March 31st, all our works will come to bear.

Throughout the process, we have been hit with countless attacks with the hope that it will draw us back but we have stuck true to our message and momentum.

A larger part of my third year has been spent serving as the Public Relations Officer of the SRC. An office whose work has benefitted the larger student body in participation, information and innovation. Huge attendances to events, progress and clarification of issues bothering students, development of the Teknocrat app and many more.

There are those of our colleague contenders who would rather seek to make these experiences sound as a weakness rather than strength. I have been silent on these because I have decided never to take advantage of the inexperience of our contenders but rather debate issues and come up with most credible solutions. This elections presents us with an opportunity to choose continuity of the SRC?s core mandate and a gamble of starting afresh.

So my friends, colleague students and the brothers and sisters who have responded to the rallying call to COME ALONG.

They said our sights were set too high yet we made it this far.

They said our journey was improbable yet thousands have rallied along.

Come Thursday, let us not wait for them to say anything first,
Let us first come out boldly and endorse JOSEPH MIREKU and my good brother KWAME NKRUMAH as the next leaders of the SRC.

Come Thursday, let us endorse our convictions over our sympathies.

Come Thursday, let us all  COME ALONG.

JOSEPH MIREKU for  SRC PRESIDENT

KWAME NKRUMAH for SRC VICE PRESIDENT.

COME ALONG.
 Number 2 on the ballot

God bless you all.
