Education Minister, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang
The Ministry of Finance has released their feeding grant arrears of over 62 million Ghana Cedis for onward disbursement. At this news, students in the over 38 Government supported Colleges of Education can now heave a sigh of relief.

Earlier, the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) warned government of a possible protest if the arrears were not paid.

Speaking to Citi News the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Education Ministry, Francis Gbadago commended the management and trainees of the colleges for their patience. He said,
“The Ministry of Education wishes to confirm that an amount of GHc62.7 million has been released to the Ghana Education Trust Fund for onward disbursement to the various public colleges of education. This particular amount is supposed to take care of the arrears of the feeding grants for teacher trainees across the country so we expect that the accounts of the colleges of education will be credited in the next few days after which principals will reimburse all teacher trainees across the country,”

Mr. Gbadago  also explained that the payment of the grants delay because of the processes involved.
“But at this particular moment it is important that we dwell more on the efforts made to ensure that this particular problem has been solved,” he added.
