All is set for the elections this morning, according to the Returning Officer of the Electoral Commission for Abuakwa North, Offei Danso
He also noted that three political candidates are contesting the elections from the NPP, Ghana Freedom Party and the United Front Party.
The seat became vacant after the murder of the Abuakwa North MP J.B. Danquah-Adu.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) pulled out of the upcoming election based on the fact that it does not want to benefit from the demise of the late law maker. The PPP also took the same stand.
Meanwhile the NPP candidate, Gifty Twum-Ampofo in an interview with Joy news said she was sure of one-touch victory.
“My chances are splendid. It’s already our seat…I’m not going to be complacent. We are working as if it was a very competitive election. We are leaving no stone unturned,” she said.
JB Danquah, was gruesomely murdered at dawn on Tuesday February 9 at his home at Shiashie in Accra.
Police investigations showed he sustained two stab wounds, one to his rib, the other to his abdomen.
